Kiss and Tell by Grace Burrowes

Kiss and Tell

Sweetest Kisses 0.5

by
Lawyers in Love, or...

Jane DeLuca, Esquire, thrives on advocating zealously for her clients in Damson Valley's family law courts, though her solo practice leaves no time for a personal life. She’s opposed in a nasty divorce by dour, stubborn Scotsman Dunstan Cromarty, and yet, as the clients’ issues grow more complicated, so do Jane’s feelings for Dunstan, and his for her.

Courtship adjourned?

Crossing personal lines could cost Jane and Dunstan their licenses to practice law, and in a small jurisdiction, they’ll oppose each other frequently. Neither can afford to give up their livelihood or their professional integrity, but can they give up each other?

Approximately 27,000 words.

Kathie's Review:

I love Ms. Burrowes' historical romance novels. LOVE THEM. When she announced that she was going to write a contemporary series, I was intrigued. They say you should write what you know. Away from her writing world, Ms. Burrowes is an attorney. She deftly inserts judicial knowledge into her story without beating us over the head with too much information. BC, before children, I was a legal secretary, and reading a book set in this arena was lots of fun for me.

Oh my gosh, Dunstan, with his Scottish accent. I loved him. I loved his yearning for family, especially wee bairns. I loved his quick mind, too. It was always turning. And he has a cat. The cat is a great supporting character.

Jane is a great attorney, too. She's sharp and looking out for the best for her clients. Tickled me when she slipped her shoes off at every opportunity, which made her need to search for them, surreptitiously with her toes beneath tables. At one point, Dunstan slips her shoes on. Sexier than slipping them off! Whew...

They are representing the wife and husband in a divorce case. There are some issues that concerned them both. Was one client cheating? Was one a thief? Was there something unlawful going on? This made for some tension that kept me reading.

I've already read the first full-length book in Ms. Burrowes' new series, A Single Kiss. It was fun seeing several characters from that book walking about in this one. I know what happens with them! This one is 0.5 and 0.6, A Kiss for Luck, comes out December 2. You can pre-order it now... for free!

I thoroughly enjoyed getting a peek at Damson Valley, the setting for this new series of Sweetest Kisses. I hope you do, too.
