The Captain's Bluestocking Mistress by Erica Ridley

The Captain's Bluestocking Mistress
by Erica Ridley

Captain Xavier Grey’s body is back amongst the Beau Monde, but his mind cannot break free from the horrors of war. His friends try to help him find peace. He knows he doesn’t deserve it. Just like he doesn't deserve the attentions of the sultry bluestocking intent on seducing him into bed...

Spinster Jane Downing wants off the shelf and into the arms of a hot-blooded man. Specifically, the dark and dangerous Captain Grey. She may not be destined to be his wife, but nothing will stop her from being his mistress. She could quote classical Greek by the age of four. How hard can it be to learn the language of love?

Kathie's Review:

We met Xavier Grey in the last book, as he finally came out of is fugue state after the turmoil of war. Spinster Jane Downing has been pining for him since she first met him years ago. He, of course, was!

After yet another evening spent among people who have no clue she's even there, people who forget her the moment they meet her, Jane has had IT. She's going to grasp life by the throat...and find herself some PASSION. One night to keep herself warm for the rest of her life. Of course, she chooses Xavier for that night.

A bit of help from a snowstorm puts these two in an empty house...and within arm's reach. Well, empty except for them and an EVIL CAT. That dang cat blocked several moments that could have turned steamy. Xavier wanted those moments blocked. I think he was actually grateful to the EVIL SPAWN who ate everything linen he could get his claws and fangs on. That's because he is BAD...and Jane is good...and he doesn't deserve good or pure or love.

As with any good romance, we know that both are going to have to face their issues to find true love. There's a lot of soul searching with these two. They are also going to have to corral that dang cat!

A sweetly warm read that will make you smile.
